Visiting students enjoying UKSA

Your first steps on the water

In 2022 we welcomed over 8,000 children and their leaders from 130 schools & groups across the UK. Our visiting students take part in water-based programmes designed to increase their leadership and life skills. What’s more, for many of the young people, this is the first chance they have to go on the water and the first time they have been away from home.

We offer day and fully-inclusive, residential courses to schools and youth groups. All of our activities are mapped to our Skills for Life framework and the outcomes and insight are shared with the schools and group leaders to measure the impact of their experience and personal development.

A youth charity offering transformational opportunities

Our charitable status means we do so much more than just provide training and certification. As well as professional yacht and superyacht career training and watersports career courses, we offer a range of development programmes, giving young people transformational opportunities, both on and off the water.

Fundraising, donations, and our generous partners and volunteers, help make UKSA the best possible place to learn about yachting and watersports. Find out more about our charitable work.

Superyacht Cadetship

#SeaChangeStories

Beginning Phase One of the Cadetship is the first step into an incredible career. I made a point of starting as I meant to carry on, focusing on what I was looking to achieve via UKSA and taking advantage of the relatively short training phase. Making friends and contacts paid off tenfold when it came to landing my first position – I was grateful for every opportunity that came my way. Ultimately, my four years were a fantastic journey with first-class training and support.
