Shoreside facilities

Our shoreside facilities

Accommodation - Keeping our students safe, comfortable and warm

Our on-site accommodation is particularly useful if you’re one of our yachting students; staying on-site during shore-based training gives you a break from living aboard. We’ve got dormitory accommodation to sleep 170 as well as single and twin rooms in our Lister House block. So there’s something to suit everyone.

We hold three-star ‘Visit Britain’ hostel status and as well as our students we also welcome visitors who want a base for exploring the island. It’s a campus environment here. So it’s one big family where everyone lives, eats and socialises together, sharing a common passion for the water.

Dining hall & bar area - the ideal place to network

Dining hall & canteen

A day on the water can be tiring, so hearty, nutritious meals are a must. As a student, you’ll get breakfast, lunch and dinner with a choice of food that includes a salad bar and vegetarian options. Our catering team are used to dealing with different dietary requirements, from nut allergies to Halal meat.

We support local farmers and all our beef, lamb and pork is from the Isle of Wight. We also use free-range eggs. All our chicken is Halal.

“The food was delicious… all the meals were so tasty, especially the breakfasts where I tried my first hash brown.” – Tim

The UKSA Bar and networking area

Bar & communal area

At the centre of the main building, the bar is the social hub of our base. With beautiful balcony views across the river, and a television area and pool table, the bar is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a hard day afloat or studying. For our career students it offers the opportunity to mingle with working captains and crew; very useful contacts when looking for employment in the industry.
