Travel information

By Plane

The nearest airport is Southampton Airport. From here you can get a train from Southampton Airport Parkway to Southampton Central. If you chose to fly into any London airport, we advise that you get the tube/train to London Waterloo where there are regular trains to Southampton Central.

By Car

We do not recommend that you bring a car to UKSA as there is extremely limited parking available for students. We highly recommend using a long stay car park in Southampton if you really need to bring your vehicle. Secure long stay car park at the ferry terminal in Southampton; www.trianglecarpark.com or Brunswick Street, Cowes

By Train

You will need to disembark at Southampton Central. There is a bus service to Town Quay to connect with the Red Funnel called ‘Quay Connect’.

Bicycles

If you do wish to bring a bicycle, you can make use of our covered bicycle storage area.

Parking at UKSA

UKSA is situated in a residential area of Cowes where there is very limited street parking. We have extremely limited parking facilities onsite for students; and so we advise that you do not bring your vehicle. UKSA is within walking distance to the local town centre, and there are bus stops nearby.

By Foot

From Southampton catch the Red Jet Passenger Ferry to West Cowes. This takes approximately 25 minutes. UKSA is around a 7 minute taxi journey or a 20 minute walk away from the Town Quay Ferry Terminal. From Town Quay, turn left out of Fountain Yard, and walk through Cowes High Street. Continue up Shooter’s Hill and into the one way street of Birmingham Road. When you come to the Police Station continue on to York Street, then further onto Pelham Road. There is a turning on the right (South Street) which will connect you to Arctic road. Continue left and UKSA is situated on the left. This walk should not take any longer than 20 minutes.

The Red Jet Hi-Speed passenger service travelling from West Cowes to Southampton

Travelling to the Isle of Wight

The Red Jet Hi-Speed passenger service links Southampton to West Cowes. Red Funnel also runs a vehicle ferry to East Cowes. We’re located just a short walk or drive away from East Cowes, across the river.

A chain ferry next to the East Cowes ferry terminal connects both sides of the river, charging a small fee per crossing. This ferry can take both cars and foot passengers and runs every 10-15 minutes.

There are frequent train services from London Waterloo to Southampton Central, with a shuttle bus running from the train station to the Ferry terminal.
