UKSA is now even more eco-friendly thanks to a donation of useful items from The Green Blue environment programme.

The Green Blue is a joint environment programme created by the British Marine Federation and Royal Yachting Association for anyone who enjoys getting out on the water or whose livelihood depends on it. They help boat users, boating businesses, sailing clubs and training centres to reduce their impact on coastal and inland waters.

Following a visit to UKSA’s Cowes campus, The Green Blue donated a whole range of items including ten spill kits in grab bags co-branded with UKSA logo for use on board, three spill kits for use on land, nine drain markers, fuel collars, RYA ‘Go Green’ books for student areas, Super Spouts to reduce spills whilst decanting, plus multiple posters, literature and heavy duty signage.

We will also be receiving inline bilge filters for all of our yachts, which will help to reduce contaminated waste escaping into the water.

Chris Frisby, Head of Operations at UKSA, said: “We are delighted to receive so many useful eco-friendly items to help further minimise our impact on our local environment.

“We take being green very seriously at UKSA and have a number of initiatives in place to help us. For example our swimming pool features an innovative heating and hot water system using renewable energy, which was the first of its type.”
