Proficiency in Medical First Aid (STCW A-VI/3)

The Proficiency in Medical First Aid On Board Ship course is a module of the MCA Chief Mate certification. This MCA First Aid course provides knowledge of giving first aid safely at sea, and contains both theoretical and practical elements to build capability and confidence. It is designed with seafarers in mind. It covers subjects including medical emergencies, resuscitation, poisons temperature extremes, wounds and bleeding, head injuries, fractures and dislocations, and spinal injuries, among other subjects.

Prerequisite experience:

Candidates must have successfully completed MCA approved training in Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/1-3)

Training towards:

Chief Mate (Yachts less than 3000gt)

Examination and assessment:

Contains a practical assessment and written examination at the end of the course.

What is included:

The course price stated below includes all food and accommodation for the duration of the course, where you will be accommodated on site at UKSA in a shared twin occupancy en-suite room. Depending on availability you can upgrade your accommodation to a single occupancy en-suite room for an additional £20.00 per night.

If you book consecutive courses, we will include accommodation the nights in between free of charge (up to a maximum of 3 nights).

If you would prefer to book the course non-residentially the course price will be £590.00 (this price still includes lunch)
