STCW Update Training

Updated Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

Following the Manila Amendments to the STCW Convention (STCW 2010). If you are serving onboard ship and are qualified in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP & FF), STCW A-VI/1-2 (recognised equivalent pre 31 January 2000: MNTB 2 Day Fire Fighting Course) you must, as of the 1st January 2017, have documentary evidence of having completed an Updated Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training course within the last 5 years;

The STCW Update Training for Updated Proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting course will provide seafarers with the required training to update the Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP & FF), STCW A-VI/1-2 certification.

The Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certification is required to be updated every five years from the date of issue

Prerequisite Experience:

  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP & FF), STCW A-VI/1-2 (recognised equivalent pre 31 January 2000: MNTB 2 Day Fire Fighting Course) certification

Attendance

  • 100% attendance is required and you will be expected to actively participate in all aspects of the course, for successful completion.

Course detail

To provide seafarers with the required update training to come in line with the Manilla amendments stated in MSN 1865 The course will use a mixture of direct teaching, group discussion with practical demonstration and exercises.

Individuals will be assessed by a continuous practical assessment.
