This intensive 24 week traineeship programme is designed to provide direct employment into the watersports industry. You will work towards securing Instructor qualifications in 4 key watersports disciplines; Windsurfing, Stand-Up Paddleboarding, Dinghy Sailing and Kayaking.
During the Traineeship you will also be supported with careers and employment advice in Industry Guidance sessions. These will assist you with the development of job searches, CV development and interview techniques. Candidates will also have access to the UKSA online job service and our impressive network of world wide contacts within the industry.
- 16 – 18 years old
- 4 GCSE’s (A* – C) including English, Maths and Science, desirable but not essential.
- GCSE PE (A* – C) desirable but not essential
- Successful interview on selection days
- Coaching or Leadership Qualifications / Awards
- Relevant interest or experience in watersports
How will I learn?
The study programme consists of a minimum of three days a week. If you dont have the desired English, Maths and Science qualifications your study programme will extend to 5 days (which includes 2 days per week completing GCSE or Functional Skills in Maths and English at the IW College). Attendance is compulsory in all timetabled sessions.
At UKSA we value the importance of work experience as part of your training so that you can effectively succeed in your future employment. A number of weeks during your course will be dedicated to display, develop and relate the skills you have learnt within a real work environment. During this period you will shadow and experienced UKSA Instructor and will be observed by Senior Instructors from within the watersports industry.
Successful completion of the traineeship will prepare you for direct employment in the watersports industry, to strengthen your CV you could move on to the Instructor Development Programme.
