Oceans of Opportunity
The Maritime Futures Programme is a hands-on, immersive introduction to maritime training and careers for individuals aged 14 – 17 years old.
This course offers the opportunity to experience a variety of roles working at sea, during an exciting and rewarding week on the water.
It’s ideally suited to those interested in marine industry based careers such as working on:
• Cruise ships
• Work boats
• Superyachts
• Windfarms
Students can discover their passion for the ocean and explore different options to start their maritime career.
About the programme
This five-day residential offers a mix of adventure and personal development. You’ll explore different maritime careers by enjoying a range of water and shore-based activities.
Experience navigating from the helm of a superyacht using our state-of-the-art simulator suites. Take to the seas on our keel boats or dinghy sailing and learn the basics of deckhand and stewarding roles through an introduction to engineering, deck work and mocktail making.
Who is it for?
This is an introductory course for groups or individuals, aged between 14 and 25 who are considering the next steps for their education or career. You don’t need any formal training in sailing or water sports.
Graduates have the option of undertaking further courses at UKSA, to enhance the skills and qualifications needed to launch their career at sea. Including Further Education Programmes, Water sports Instructor Training, and our Cadetship and specialist career training courses.
