At UKSA, we believe in the power of outdoor learning to create positive change. Our sailing and watersports programmes do more than just get young people out on the water – they build confidence, teamwork, and resilience in a dynamic and engaging environment.
Through activities like dinghy sailing, keelboating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and raft building, participants develop essential personal and interpersonal skills. Beyond the water, our evening sessions – indoor football, swimming, archery, crabbing, and pool games – provide even more opportunities for growth and adventure.
On the water activities
Inspire, motivate, and build confidence in your students through our exciting on-the-water activities. We’ll design a personalised programme tailored to your school’s unique objectives, as well as the age and ability of your group.
Dinghy Sailing
Perfect for all ages and abilities, dinghy sailing is an excellent way to build communication and decision-making skills. Learn the fundamentals in our sheltered training areas with expert tuition at a 1:6 instructor-to-student ratio.
Our diverse fleet caters to everyone – from beginners to seasoned sailors, including multihulls for advanced training.
Windsurfing
This dynamic sport challenges both body and mind, offering an exciting way to connect with the sea. Our instructors guide you through the basics at the most ideal learning spots along the Isle of Wight coastline.
With a few key techniques, you’ll be gliding across the water, mastering the sail and board.
Kayaking
Our introductory kayaking sessions teach the essentials while offering a taste of freedom and exploration.
Enjoy fully supervised trips to some of the island’s most scenic, sheltered locations – perfect for a peaceful paddle while exploring natural surroundings.
Stand-up Paddleboarding
Accessible and fun, paddleboarding is a great entry point to watersports. Learn balance, paddling techniques, and how to fall safely, all in calm water under expert supervision.
It’s a confidence-boosting, low-impact activity that brings a rewarding sense of independence and adventure.
Keelboat Sailing
Keelboats – larger than dinghies, smaller than yachts – are perfect for small-group sailing experiences. It’s the perfect way to encourage teamwork, as each participant has a role onboard.
Keelboating is both a thrilling and challenging experience – helping develop leadership, resilience, and respect for the elements.
Onshore activities
While our on-the-water experiences are a key highlight, we also embrace everything this unique island has to offer. Our onshore programmes are designed to be both fun and educational, aligning with the school curriculum to bring learning to life beyond the classroom.
Our vibrant 4-acre waterfront campus is just as exciting on land as it is on the water. With a range of engaging activities like team-building challenges, raft-building, pool games in our heated indoor pool, and even larger-than-life human board games, there’s never a dull moment between sessions.
With its mild climate, stunning coastal views, charming villages, romantic castles and fascinating geological features, the Isle of Wight is the perfect backdrop for adventure and discovery. It’s also home to some of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the UK.

The Needles
Take a scenic hike to the famous white cliffs and iconic rock formations. On clear nights, this area offers some of the best stargazing opportunities in southern England.
Jurassic Discoveries
Known as one of Europe’s richest dinosaur discovery sites, the Isle of Wight offers exciting opportunities for fossil hunting and visiting dinosaur-themed attractions—perfect for budding paleontologists.
Carisbrooke Castle
Step back in time at this historic fortress that once imprisoned kings and defended against the Spanish Armada. With over 1,000 years of history, it offers a dynamic way to explore medieval life and military history.

Osborne House

Evening activities
At UKSA, the adventure doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Our evening entertainment programme ensures that students stay active, engaged, and happy – right up until lights out.
After an exciting day on the water or exploring the island, students return to a safe, comfortable environment where they can unwind, socialise, and enjoy the rest of their evening. Group leaders can take a well-earned break, knowing their students are being well looked after and having fun with fully supervised evening activities.
