RYA Keelboat Endorsement

If you’re a watersports instructor, introducing additional skills to your repertoire will allow you to embrace a whole world of new teaching opportunities. The RYA Keelboat endorsement gives you the opportunity to learn the RYA instructor method on something larger and more stable than a dinghy.

About the course

This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills you’ll need to confidently teach RYA Keelboat courses to a variety of students.

You’ll learn how to coach keelboat skills through sessions ashore and afloat, including how to deliver a good briefing, running sessions to improve student performance, and providing high quality debriefs.

The course is delivered over two days and the syllabus is taught with a ratio of 6:1 students per instructor.

What’s included

This is an all-inclusive course, your accommodation and food for the weekend are included in the cost.

Prerequisites

To complete this course, you’ll need:

  • To be at least 16 years old
  • A valid first aid certificate
  • An RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate
  • To have completed a pre-entry sailing assessment less than one year before the instructor training course starts

Qualifications

Upon successful completion, you’ll be certified as an RYA Keelboat Instructor and qualified to teach all parts of the RYA National Sailing Scheme in keelboats.
