Beacon View Primary

“Many have never been away from home, never travelled by water and never had the opportunity to float around in the sea. It has been life changing.”

Since 2017 Beacon View Primary have been regular visitors to UKSA. In March of 2024, 32 of their Year 6 students visited for a 3 day, 2 night stay filled with adventure.

“We recently launched our ‘Great 8 Values’ in school: Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Ambition, Creativity, Confidence, Determination and Enthusiasm,” Beacon View’s Principle Sally Hodgson explained. “Visiting UKSA on a residential trip has given our students the opportunity to demonstrate all of these values in multiple different ways.”

Whilst the students may have only been with UKSA for three days their schedule was packed full of kayaking, team games and stand-up paddleboarding, brand new experiences for most of the children. “The group have talked with passion and enthusiasm about things that they have never tried before and didn’t think that they could ever do.” But it wasn’t just the activities that were new to these pupils. “Many have never been away from home, never travelled by water and never had the opportunity to float around in the sea. It has been life changing.”

When considering the lasting impact that this trip has had on the students since returning to the classroom, Sally confirmed that there has been a noticeable improvement in the young people’s resilience, confidence, teamwork, communication and decision-making.

“We would love to thank everyone involved in making this trip affordable, the Leave No Child Behind funding made it possible for families to allow their children to come. You are making a big difference and it is appreciated.”

We can’t wait to welcome Beacon View Primary back in 2025.
