UKSA Programmes

Unforgettable adventures that make lifelong impact

As a youth charity, we don’t just provide qualifications but we also create and deliver life-changing and life-enhancing programmes.

Supporting those who need us

By giving them an adventure they’ll never forget, we help young people develop essential life skills that build their self-esteem and self-determination.

We have a huge number of programmes available to get young people motivated, into the right frame of mind for work and able to access opportunities. We engage them, educate them and help them with the transitional phases in their life.

We show the benefits of teamwork, and how to be a leader. We watch as our young people grow in confidence and find their voice. We guide them towards a brighter future.

Isle of Wight YOT Sail Through

Isle of Wight Sail Through is a programme that we have put together with IOW Youth Offending Team (YOT). Sail Through is a 6-week programme for Island young people who are currently working with YOT. Over the 6 weeks, young people come to UKSA 1 day a week and take part in a wide range of on-water activities working toward achieving their Power Boat qualification, as well as land-based industry guidance sessions to encourage and empower them to start planning their futures.

Youth Engagement for Schools (YES)

Active Learning that stops students dropping out. The Youth Engagement for Schools (YES) programme aims to prevent students from dropping out of statutory education by providing them with active learning opportunities in small groups outside of their normal learning environment.

Change Direction

Steering you to a brighter future. Change Direction is a 6-week programme for young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). The programme gives participants a whole range of on-water experiences, establishes a healthy routine, offers them work experience with local maritime businesses and raises their aspirations and self-belief.

Bespoke Development Programmes

At UKSA we have worked with different partners to create bespoke development programmes for those who need a little bit of extra support and would benefit from the sessions we offer here at UKSA. We have also worked to develop courses for schools and groups to run weekly term-time sessions. These sessions have been designed to give students the skills they need to work toward maritime qualifications and develop life skills.
