Knowledge and qualifications

Our courses are designed to give you detailed practical knowledge of the following:

  • Exchange of communications relevant to the safety of life at sea

A mixture of theory and practical teaching

Our courses include:

  • Marine Radio Short Range Certificate
    This course introduces you to the use of a marine VHF radio equipped with a Digital Selective Calling (DSC) facility.
  • GMDSS General Operators Certificate (GOC)
    This course will prepare you to sit the MCA examination for the GOC Radio Operators Certificate. This entitles you to operate the VHF, MF and HF radio and satellite equipment on board all commercial vessels of any size in any sea area.

Our flexible approach to training makes it easy to fit it essential ongoing career development and re-validation of qualifications around work commitments. Our radio communications courses are available as all-inclusive and non-residential packages, giving you flexibility to suit your needs.

The residential price includes all food and accommodation for the duration of the course. Subject to availability you can upgrade your accommodation from a twin occupancy room to a single occupancy en-suite room for an additional £20 per night. If you book consecutive courses, we will include accommodation the nights in between free of charge (up to a maximum of 3 nights). Subject to availability.
