Hartley Primary Academy

“I’ve seen more confidence and an improvement in communication from many children, particularly those with SEN and from disadvantaged backgrounds.”

Hartley Primary Academy are no strangers to UKSA, visiting on residential trips since 2018. We most recently welcomed them back in June of this year and were excited to hear how much they enjoyed their trip to UKSA.

“The children loved the games that they played whilst on the water. They also loved feeling a sense of achievement and realising that they were able to do things that they never thought possible.” Ruby Tennant, Year 6 teacher at Hartley Primary began. “Lots of children commented on how they loved the independence of the activities, with a standout moment being when they were dinghy sailing and the fact that they could sail unaccompanied.”

We asked Ruby if her and the other leaders at Hartley Primary Academy had seen a change in their students since their trip at UKSA, to which she explained “I’ve seen more confidence and an improvement in communication from many children, particularly those with SEN and from disadvantaged backgrounds. The children learned teamwork, determination and perseverance and decision making.”

“The staff were incredible, they ensured the children were safe, happy and engaged throughout. The quality of safeguarding procedures is very high and the range of activities is excellent.” Ruby explained when we asked her why Hartley Primary choose to visit UKSA every year. “I would absolutely recommend UKSA, the booking process is even so straight forward and there is always somebody to answer any queries. The trip itself always runs incredibly smoothly.”

We love coming to UKSA – and when I say we I mean the students AND staff!” Ruby finished. We can’t wait to welcome them back next year.

It wouldn’t have been possible for Hartley Primary Academy to have brought all 49 of their pupils to UKSA for this experience without the support of the Leave No Child Behind fund. To find out more about this initiative, visit: https://uksa.org/charity/leave-no-child-behind/
