Lewis Dixon

“My highlight of the Yachtmaster Offshore Training was getting to share the experience with the amazing new friends I made on the course.”

Lewis has recently passed his Yachtmaster Offshore exam after 16 weeks of training here at UKSA.

Before beginning his Yachtmaster training in February of this year, Lewis had no prior sailing experience and was living over 3000 miles away in New York City, working in an exciting role as an Account Manager.

Looking for a change from city life, Lewis began to research a career on superyachts. Lewis’ brother had done his Yachtmaster Offshore training at UKSA 5 years prior, and has since been working abord yachts; he recommended Lewis do the course himself to gain more experience and qualifications.

“My highlight of the Yachtmaster Offshore Training was getting to share the experience with the amazing new friends I made on the course.”

Lewis is now equipped with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is headed out to Antibes to begin the search for his first position on a superyacht. This is just the first leap in Lewis’ career as he hopes to work his way up the ranks.

“I’d like to eventually work my way up the ladder to First Officer, I’m flying to Antibes this week to try and secure my first position in the industry!”

We look forward to hearing how Lewis’ job search goes, we have no doubt he will make a brilliant crew member on any vessel.

“Embrace the whole experience, give everything a go, and absorb as much knowledge as possible from all of the amazing instructors. The qualification can lead so many different careers and sets you up perfectly for the best start to whichever career path you choose to go down.”
