Since graduating from UKSA’s Further Education course in 2017 Lillie has gone on to work 13 seasons as a Watersports Instructor in Mark Warner holiday resorts across the world!

As a teenager Lillie was welcomed by the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust to take part in a transformational sailing experience. Having loved her time at sea, one of the Skippers from Ellen MacArthur recommended that Lillie researched UKSA’s Further Education courses once she finished her GCSE exams.

Lillie left school in 2015 and joined us here at UKSA for an action-packed two years of training.

“The best part about the course was having the opportunity to meet new people and the community at UKSA. My favourite memory has got to be my first summer working as an Instructor at UKSA, it was a great experience.”

During the course Lillie gained qualifications such as an NCFE Level 3 in Sport and Physical Activities and her SUP Instructor qualification. To gain some more experience, Lillie stayed on at UKSA to work as an Instructor for her first summer season in the industry.

“I left UKSA in 2017 and secured a job as a dual qualified Instructor at Mark Warner Holidays. I am now about to work my 13th season with them. I worked my way up from Instructor to Head of Department, and I am now coming into my second year as a Manager. I am the only female Waterfront Manager in the company this season!”

“The best part about being a Watersports Instructor is that you are able to teach in some amazing places, it’s a job that can take you all over the world.”

When asked what advice she would offer to somebody considering training as a Watersports Instructor Lillie said:

“Take the leap and try something different, even if you have no previous experience in watersports. I hadn’t considered it before UKSA and now I run a waterfront.”
