Sofia Reichert
“Life at UKSA was brilliant! I had the best time, made lots of new friends and memorable funny moments. It was a very positive atmosphere.”
Sofia trained on UKSA’s Superyacht Stew and Stewardess Training course in 2023; just a year into her career she has already gained valuable experience across the industry.
Prior to joining us here at UKSA Sofia had been working in hospitality. Looking to venture into something a bit different, Sofia took inspiration from a friend already in the yachting industry and began to research superyacht hospitality courses.
“I had a friend in the yachting industry and was inspired to find a pathway into it myself. I looked up online what qualifications I needed and where was best to train, this is when I found UKSA. I loved the website and the look of the course. As I already had a lot of experience in the hospitality industry, I was really looking forward to the aspects of the course such as the deck work and STCW training.”
Sofia’s highlights from the course include firefighting, silver service and wine tasting.

It wasn’t long after graduating from the course that Sofia was hired, she is now working her second season as a sole stew. Sofia has been sailing around the beautiful coast of Scotland surrounded by amazing wildlife such as dolphins and puffins.
“After training I secured a job as a sole stew onboard a 24m vessel in Scotland. I have returned this year for another season on Yacht Emma Jane. The highlight of my career so far has been the places I’ve been able to visit.”
“If I were to offer advice to somebody considering the Superyacht Stew and Stewardess Course, I would say go for it! I would also recommend trying to gain some hospitality experience before hand, so that you can fully take on board everything that the course has to offer.”
