An introduction to sailing dinghies for complete beginners, covering everything you need to know to get afloat under supervision. Build your confidence and develop your skills. UKSA are offering 2 days over weekends to gain your Level 1.
Syllabus
- How to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering
- Able to sail in light winds under supervision
- Minimum duration – Approximately 2 days, 16 hours or equivalent number of sessions
Pre-Requisites
- Able to plan and execute coastal trips and return to a familiar port by night
- Candidates should be competent to the level of the Intermediate Powerboat Certificate with a knowledge of the navigation and chartwork to the level of Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased certificate.
- It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operators certificate.
- Minimum age – 17
