Designed in conjunction with the Professional Yachting Association this course is intended to build on a candidate’s basic powerboating knowledge and skills.

About the Course

Attendees will gain confidence in their ability to manoeuvre a powerboat more smoothly. The emphasis is on learning important skills in day and night pilotage and passenger carriage and management. This course is very useful for anyone operating a powerboat day or night with responsibility for carrying passengers. The course includes plenty of time to practice working with a crew member and operating short-handed. Candidates will practice and become familiar with pilotage for short passages from ship to shore, both day and night.

Syllabus

Passenger safety and comfort, day and night pilotage, emergency situations, equipment / vessel types, associated theory.

Minimum duration – 2 days

Pre-Requisites 

• Candidates should be competent to the standard of RYA Powerboat Level 2 Powerboat Handling with a coastal endorsement. It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid and VHF / SRC operators certificate.
• Minimum age – 17
