A Prince’s Trust youth group share their experiences
A Prince’s Trust youth group tell us about their time with UKSA
The Prince’s Trust is one of our partners here at UKSA, and we run their Get into Maritime/Watersports Programme from our waterfront campus in Cowes. The programme is a five-day residential course which introduces young people not in education, employment or training to experiences which may help with future employment.
UKSA is an outdoor education provider that understands the specific types of support young people need
The most important factor in an outdoor education provider is one that understands the specific types of support young people need, according to a Prince’s Trust spokesperson. “The education provider needs a focus on positive futures for our young people,” he said.
“Our group really enjoyed staying on the Island. This and the ferry journey added to their personal social development experiences by moving them out of their comfort zones. It was great to see them increase their communication and social skills through a range of water-based activities, and through spending a week together. They were really excited about completing their Level 1 in Power Boating.”
We were impressed by the quality of UKSA’s facilities and by its range of watersports equipment
“We were impressed by the quality of UKSA’s facilities and by its range of watersports equipment. The overall environment is very client-friendly as the layout is both open and controlled. Also, all of our dietary requirements were catered for. All our expectations were met as our young people were encouraged and supported with applications to outcomes available through UKSA and other providers in the Solent area.
We would certainly recommend UKSA to similar groups because the staff were both professional and understanding of individual needs. They really ensured that our group made the most of their visit.”
