UKSA is recruiting 45 activity team members to start in March 2023
UKSA is recruiting for 45 new staff members to join its activity teams to commence in March 2023 including watersports instructors at any level, activity leads and watersports senior training instructors.
In addition to qualified instructors, the Isle of Wight based charity is looking for adaptable, dependable and social people who may have few or no qualifications and experience but who love the outdoors. The positions available are for all levels of experience and UKSA provides in-house training for any new activity leads.
With demand for instructors at an all-time high at holiday destinations worldwide, UKSA has funding options in place for up to 100% of course fees for candidates on its 7-week Staff Watersports Instructor Training course. The course starts at the beginning of March 2023 training students to become RYA qualified and provides instructor jobs with UKSA upon graduation.
Instructors will qualify to teach dinghy sailing enabling them to teach beginners, train future instructors and share their passion for the water. They will also train on paddleboards and paddlesports crafts. A typical day when qualified will see instructors prepare kit, give shoreside instruction, teach on the water, debrief at the end of the session and pack away kit.
Also required at Team UKSA is a number of activity leads to deliver shore-based activities and support watersports instructors onshore. There is no experience required for these positions as in-house training is provided.
Chris Frisby, director of training and operations at UKSA said: “We’re really excited to have such a large number of positions available to start with us in March. We know there’s lots of young people who want to work in the watersports industry but who may not be able to afford the initial training so this opportunity shouldn’t be missed. “
UKSA watersports staff can take advantage of a generously discounted food and accommodation package reducing day to day living expenses and enabling them to save while working with UKSA. UKSA instructors also get to work with a variety of different groups including children, teenagers, diverse and SEN groups as well as adults. As an employee you will also have use of company kit during your free time, get holiday allowance for the duration of your contract and ongoing training with the opportunity to add endorsements to your qualifications during your time at UKSA.
Last year’s watersports instructors have chosen various different choices for the next steps of their careers including working at UKSA for the winter season, training or employment in the yachting industry, employment as watersports instructors in the UK and Caribbean and undertaking their Maritime Foundation course at UKSA.
In addition to the watersports roles, UKSA is looking for a Digital Media Executive, a Careers Course Sales Adviser , a Schools and Groups Manager and a Head of Fundraising.
