About the programme
From our unique four-acre waterfront campus in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, this five-day residential programme offers the perfect blend of adventure and personal development. It provides young people with the chance to explore maritime careers by enjoying a range of water and shore-based activities.
As part of the programme, students will have the opportunity to experience navigation from the helm of a superyacht using our state-of-the-art simulator suites. They will take to the seas on our keel boats or dinghy sailing, and even learn the basics of deckhand and stewarding roles through an introduction to engineering, deck work and mocktail making.
Who is it for?
The Maritime Futures Programme is the perfect introductory course for groups or individuals, aged between 14 and 25 that are considering the next steps for their education or career. While no formal training in sailing or watersports is required, the programme is designed to build on an existing enjoyment of the ocean and interest in working in a maritime role.
Graduates of the Programme have the option of undertaking a range of further courses at UKSA, designed to equip them with the skills and qualifications needed to launch their career at sea. These include Further Education Programmes, Watersports Instructor Training, and for those students age 18 and above, our Cadetship and specialist career training courses.
