From childcare to guaranteed employment with Neilson

Laura Phillips shares her story…

For the past five years UKSA and Neilson, a specialist in active holidays, have been working together to enable students to train with UKSA for employment with Neilson Active Holidays.

Together we aim to deliver an all-inclusive Watersports Instructor Training course offering unparalleled guidance and tuition. On successful completion of the course you are guaranteed employment for two seasons at a Neilson resort in Greece, Sardinia or Croatia.

Course graduate Laura Phillips has a masters degree in real estate and property development and had previously worked two seasons for Neilson as a chalet host and nanny – it was during one of these seasons that she heard about UKSA. Laura shares her story:

“My work experience was mostly in part-time hospitality and I’d always enjoyed working for Neilson – it is a good company. So having guaranteed employment with Neilson at the end of the Watersports Instructor Training course was important to me. The training takes place in a great location and since being here I’ve learnt new skills every day. I’ve really enjoyed the events which show the Neilson culture. The qualifications I’ve gained since being here include RYA Powerboat Level 2, First Aid, RYA Marine Short Range Radio and RYA Dinghy Instructor.”

“Learning at UKSA is hard work but great fun, and I’d advise someone wanting to do this course to use the evenings for revision as well as socialising. Now I’ve graduated the future seems really exciting – I’d really like to go to Lesvos in Greece. I am looking to work eventually as a deckhand or skipper in the winter season.”
