Corey George

With a host of transferable skills, assisted funding and a passion to learn, Corey now celebrates his graduation from UKSA

UKSA’s Watersports Instructor Training (WIT) programme lasts 11 weeks and graduates qualify in teaching dinghy sailing, paddleboard, paddlesport and windsurfing. As a high-calibre professional you will be able to work in some of the most idyllic places on the planet. Graduates are guaranteed interviews with top employers such as Neilson HolidaysMark Warner and Ocean Elements.

Before enrolling on UKSA’s WIT course, Corey George was a dancer. Because of illness he had to choose a new career path, so came to us.

He had GCSEs, a BTEC and two A levels, and had worked in bars and for the NCS.

Corey chose UKSA because …

“…looking back to my swimming days and the NCS watersports activities I’d done, I decided that windsurfing and sailing were the keys to my new career.

I received a bursary …

… from the Noel Lister Memorial Fund. Without it I would never have been able to enrol on this absolutely amazing course.

My first impressions of UKSA …

… were that it was very chilled out and a nice place to socialise. The food was fantastic and we had great fun on site with all the games and drinks! The instructors were excellent from the very start.

“The low points were the cold weather and when I had to leave UKSA.”

What next, Corey?

I have secured a job with Mark Warner this summer, working in Sardinia. I’m pretty sure I’ll come back to UKSA for more training!

Corey’s advice:

Come to UKSA with an open mind and a ‘can-do’ attitude. You’ll experience so many new things here if you’re willing to give it a go.”
